Whenever people find out that I used to be a Vector Marketing Sales Rep, one of the first things they ask is whether or not it actually pays? Well let me cut right to the chase: Yes! Vector Marketing does actually pay.
But that said, I can understand why some people think it doesn’t pay. When you google Vector Marketing, you’ll find misinformation alleging that it’s a pyramid scheme or MLM. Unfortunately, I think some people have a negative experience with Vector because they have unrealistic expectations going into it, or they simply don’t understand how much Vector Marketing pays. Vector has a different payment structure than many jobs. It’s not like a salaried 9-5 where you get paid just for showing up.
When I started as a sales rep, I quickly learned that it takes hard work and persistence. To be successful at Vector, you also need to possess the character traits that make someone a good salesperson: you need to enjoy talking to new people, be passionate about what you’re selling, and not take it personally when someone says “no”! Like any job, there are simply some people who just aren’t well suited for it.
I saw a decent number of people come and go during my years at Vector because they realized it wasn’t right for them. But for those of us who understood the payment structure and what to expect, being a sales rep for Vector was overall positive and a valuable working experience.
I always tell people who are considering Vector Marketing to read the website, training materials, and contact Vector if you still have questions. The managers at Vector, in my experience, were always super helpful and transparent. They want to set you up for success and help you grow.
Vector Marketing Payment Structure
There aren’t traditional salaries at Vector Marketing, but there is a guaranteed base pay per qualified appointment whether or not you make a sale. And when you do make a sale, you earn commissions. The more sales you make, the more money you earn. There are no minimum requirements or upper limits on how much you can sell.
Vector pays out weekly, so you’ll receive your Cutco commissions fast. There’s also a lot of opportunity to advance. Sales reps who perform well can easily get promoted to management roles.
Are there are (Potential) Startup Costs, No
This is another common piece of misinformation I see about Vector Marketing. People say it’s expensive to get started, and you won’t get your initial investment back. This simply is not true.
How much do you need to invest in Vector Marketing? Nothing. The only real investment is your time. However, like any job where you’re working independently, you might want to spend some money to get yourself organized and put yourself in a position to succeed.
What about the Cutco Sample Set?
This is another common myth about Vector. You do NOT need to buy Cutco knives yourself. If you’re doing a lot of sales appointments in-person, you will receive a loaner sample set to use for your demonstrations. There’s no fee for this.
As long as you’re an active sales rep, you won’t pay for any of the knives in the sample set. If you decide to discontinue, all you have to do is return everything.
My Advice: Don’t Give up!
Vector isn’t a “get rich quick” scheme. However, if you’re willing to put in the work, it’s a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants a flexible job on their own terms. Just don’t expect overnight success. You’ll need to put in the time and energy to make sales so you can earn commissions. Hang in there, and don’t give up. If you stick with it, your earning potential is high.
So in conclusion, Vector Marketing does actually pay. I hope this information helped dispel the misinformation you may have heard, and I hope you have a great experience if you choose to join Vector.
